Hello,
I have successfully subscribed to the phpdoc mailing list.
I would like to propose starting a Persian (Farsi) translation project for the PHP Manual.
As far as I know, there is currently no active Persian translation team or repository. I would like to contribute to initiating and maintaining it.
Could you please guide me on the required steps to:
- create or join a doc-fa translation team (if it exists or can be created)
- set up the translation workflow and repository
- begin contributing translations
I am ready to start with small sections such as “Getting Started” and gradually expand.
Thank you for your support.

Hi there!
There has been a previous request for a Farsi translation. Christoph (cmb) provided an excellent answer in response that I’m copying/pasting below the double dashes (–).
Aside from that, the previous person who requested the Farsi translation had started their own attempt at <https://github.com/elamirch/doc-fa>, but it appears that it’s no longer maintained. Maybe this can be of help to you as a starting point?

Note that trying to tackle a new translation is a lot of work (really!), and while there is <https://svn.php.net/viewvc/phpdoc/fa/>, this is likely so outdated that this would be like a new translation. I suggest that you create a new translation repository as a fork of <https://github.com/php/doc-en> (there is no need to have your repo on Github), and then start with the translation, trying to get other contributors interested in this to help. When you get to the point where at least the most relevant pages (maybe around 10%) have been translated to Farsi, write to the list so that the repository can be moved to <https://github.com/php/doc-fa> and integrated to the PHP manual. Note though, that an initial translation needs to be maintained; mostly kept up to date, but also extended with new page translations.
